At Grey Stone Books we have some of the best titles for real enthusiasts. Ronald Turnbull's Across Scotland on Foot has been described as refreshing, amusing and an inspiring read. Turnbull has also teamed up with Roy Clayton to pen the two 'challenge' books - one on the 3000s of Snowdonia, Wales, and the other on the mountains of the Lake District. Perhaps his best work though is inLong Days in Lakeland where Turnbull takes his readers over high ridges, down mossy slopes, takes ferries across the Lake then does more of the same. A book for adventurers if ever there was one. John Gillham illustrates most of the books with line art sketches and 3d panorama maps. Gillham co-wrote Peaks of the Yorkshire Dales with Phil Iddon. The book is one of the few that concentrates on the tops of Yorkshire rather than the dales. In the Famous Highland Drove Walk, Irvine Butterfield has written a most evocative Highland journey, from Skye to the market at Crieff, a journey he shared with a small herd of Highland Cattle. Jon Sparks, Judith Brown, Tom Hutton and Jerry Rawson are fast developing a series of Scrambles and Easy Climbs books. The first two covering the Lake District and Snowdonia, have been very well received by the press and readers alike. Volumes covering Peak and Pennine and the whole of Wales are set to follow.
